7 Important Temples I Visited in Mathura Vrindavan

Two months back my hubby came home and told all of us to pack our bag we are going to a short trip to Mathura. It was around 15 days we did not gone anywhere due to busy schedule. So when heard about short trip felt amazed.

We packed our bag and had lunch and moved from our home at noon 1pm. It takes around 6 to 8 hours to reach Mathura by road from Kanpur.

We reached Mathura at 7pm in evening. When we enter Mathura automatically the feeling of divine comes in mind. The only thing comes in my mind is Lord Krishna. When you plan to visit Mathura don’t forget to visit Vrindavan and Barsana.

  

Dwarkadeesh temple

Vrindavan- which is known for the famous van (forest) where Lord Krishna and his beloved Radha would perform Raslila along with their gopis and friends has got the magical power to take my heart away.Where ever I went in Vrindavan I found people saying “radhe-radhe”. Vrindavan- the birthplace of Lord Krishna reminds me of all the stories and how he played with his mother Yashoda and tried to be naughty with his gopis (friends).

Vrindavan is known for temples and I visited 7 important temples there. At first I went to the famous Banke Bihari main temple. One of the most popular in Vrindavan and famous all over India is the Banke Bihari Temple, built in 1864. There are curtains in front of the richly decorated murti. After the main prayers the curtains are drawn apart to give darsan (viewing) to a long line of devotees. The curtain before the Deities is not left open like at other temples but every few minutes it is pulled shut and then opened again. The Deities do not get up until 9 AM. The temple has mangala-arati only one day a year and only once a year can the lotus feet of the Deity be seen, on AkhyayaTritiya.

Next I went to Janmabhumi which was the birth place of Lord Krishna. The place if mesmerizing and the feeling of an unknown happiness will encounter every soul and heart.

The Dwarkadheesh Temple, built in 1814, is a popular temple in the center of Mathura town. This is the most visited temple in the center of Mathura and is managed by followers of Vallabhacarya. The temple is a hub of activity during the festive days of Holi, Janmashtami and Diwali.

Sri Ranganatha Temple is30 meters high with three gopurams (gateways), a tall shikhara (crown) and gold-plated decorations. This South Indian style temple was built by the wealthy Seth family of Mathura in 1851 and is dedicated to Lord Sri Ranganatha or Rangaji, a form of Lord Vishnu lying down on the Sesa Naga (divine serpent).

Janambhumi

The Iskon temple is another must visit place where the place was filled with piligrimage and kirtans was being enchanted inside the mandir.

Manokaamna temple another holy temple where there was the statue of Krishna and Radhe in the swing. It is believed that every prayer offered and every wish which has been done by devotees gets fulfilled by offering prayers in this temple.

Mathura- the birthplace of Lord Krishna and Vrindavan –the place which symbolizes the eternal love between Radha and Krishna is a must visit.
