If I can consider one person to be an embodiment of the phrase “made of great”. It has definitely got to be my cousin brother. He was born and brought up in a town in Karnataka and for obvious reasons, did not get the quality of education that we could get here in a metropolitan city like Mumbai. Still, as they say that it is the fire within that drives a person and where there is a will, There is a way. After crossing his plus two, he realized that he needed to improve his conversation skills a lot and for that a strong hold on English is a must.
He is a huge cricket fan and he listened to the commentary really well and that is where he picked his accent and pronunciation skills from. I remember him always keeping a dictionary and diary handy while watching cricket on television. This is the right attitude of a learned, not caring about what others would think and moving on the path of self improvisation, always. Soon, he started working on a part time job to support the advanced level language courses he wanted to pursue. He somehow did make it work inspire of the limited financial resources and worked really hard on it. Eventually, he managed to get a job at a call centre related to travel and tourism. After an year or two of working with them at a pretty decent package, he started a small tourism related call centre cum office of his own in Delhi, itself. He would work night shifts at his job and manage his business during day time. This continued for almost 3 years, when he finally took a life changing decision of moving to London for higher education. He then pursued his masters in business administration in UK and side by side managed his business in India to support his education.
It has been 8 years now, he his done with his post graduation and owns a small travel and tourist agency in London and by god’s grace and his immense endeavors, is doing quite well. He listened to his instinct and passion always, not bothering about what background he came from, his financial constraints, his growing age at which Indian families believe you should be married.
Well, he would finally be here by the end of this year to get married as he is a self sufficient man now and he is 32, not a big deal, I guess. All heroes, do not make it to magazines and news highlights but continue to inspire us by living a life extraordinaire!! No one in our family thought, he would make it big!! But the guy never got demotivated and kept moving forward. He indeed is made of great!!
