Why is a hug, the perfect gift for this father's day |
I have a question for you. What if on a random day, you are feeling really down & low for various reasons.. Do you feel, a hug would make you feel better? I feel the answer would be a " Yes" In 90 Percent of cases. Do you remember the movie, Munnabhai MBBS? The famous jaddu ki jhappi, was not over emphasized without any reasons!!There are more than one reasons behind the hug therapy or the cuddle therapy.
A hug from someone who you dearly love, is an instant mood lift
& makes you feel more confident about things. Hugging has many physical
& emotional benefits on a person.
A person who is stressed out, is more susceptible to catch
common infections like common cold, flu & other viral infections. A hug is
beleived to boost up a person's immune system. There is an indirect scientific explanation behind this. Hugging leads to pressure on a bone called sternum in
your body. This, in turn, activates the Solar plexus Chakras in your body. Activation
of these chakras, leads to stimulation of thynus gland in your body which leads
to increase in white blood cell production.
Hugging also leads to an increase in the levels of Oxytocin
hormone, that is a naturally occurring, nueropeptide in body. Hugging stimulates
the reduction in the levels of Cortisol. This type of hormonal fluctuation
leads to a considerable reduction in the feelings of stress, anxiety, restlessness & fear. Indirectly, it leads to reduction in your blood
pressure levels. Oxytocin us also known as the love hormone or bonding hormone
in lay man language.
Also, hugging activates a type of receptors called the,
Pacinian receptors present on skin. These receptors send out signals to the
brain to decrease the blood pressure.
This might not be a very known fact but hugging someone also
burns calories!! Yes, you can burn upto 12 Calories in every hug. The tension
built up in the muscles, also gets released on hugging somebody. Hugging also
triggers a part of your nervous system called the parasympathetic system. It
leads to balancing of your mental peace levels.
Doctors recommend at least 8 hugs per day to relieve the stress to be a happy person & develop positive relationships with people. There is a famous quote by Psychotherapist Dr.Virginia Satir.
"We need 4 hugs a day for survival. We need 8 hugs a day
for maintenance. We need 12 hugs a day for growth."
This father’s day, I am participating in the '#HugYourDad' activity for Vicks in association with BlogAdda.

So, I am quite sure that you would not need more reasons
than this to conclude that a hug would be a perfect present to give to your daddy,
this father's day & Even following day, thereafter.
